Does anybody have any first hand experience with the Align ESC's on GB motors? I'm building a 14T 24ga double for a 16 oz p-40 (sound about right?). I'll test it out on a CC 25, since that's what is in my motor test stand. I'm going to have to buy an ESC for the plane, however, and am trying to decide if I should spend the extra $15 for a CC over the align. Comments / advice?

thanks,
dave.

Dave,

I have a quad stator motor running on 2 gbx flux rings / bell that doesn't run too well on an align 35A controller. Always runs fine on a modelmotors 40A controller.

As expected it is quite annoying! On the align controller it appears to run ok with a low number of turns (4 turn wye on quad stator), on 6 turns spinning an 11*7 the controller reduces to about 1/4 throttle as current goes above 15 amps when increasing throttle. Its not a battery / LVC issue, and have played with the timing settings on the align controller.
Its almost as if the motor / controller goes out of sync , but somehow still runs smoothly but at low power. Any ideas?

Although all bl controllers may perhaps have problems running a certain motor, having played with 2 align 35A controllers, they seem below average in this respect :(

CC may be a sensible option, there are other new manufacturers starting up which are cheaper, but they are not well proven yet....

I don't know about the other ESC because I always buy the CC. They're a little more but the past upgrades have actually existed and the upgrade path has been reasonable, repair is reasonable. I just fear that the others you'r stuck. If you blast a CC they'll "repair" it for 1/2 price of new.
