Hi, I've just joined this site and I was wondering if my question is stupid or amI????? do I need an ESC to control brushless motors and if so what type?

That’s the only bad side to this type of motor. They are 3 phase AC servo motors. The only DC thing about them is that the ESCs are made to be powered by DC.

Once you get past the $$$$ of a Brushless ESC you got it made. Opens up a complete new angle to the hobby. :D

That's not a lot of money for what you get.

If you take the fact that brushless motors are virtually maintenance free and have a much higher efficiency the picture changes a lot. I fly brushless only.

You are able to pick up an Align 10 amp esc for $40 if your on a budget.
