Hi Jay or anyone, I'm going to make some motors using the GB 25 mm 12 leg stators. I'd like to try a single first. 2 stators produce a width 1 mm less than the 5 mm magnets and 3 stators gives a width 1 mm longer than the magnet. What would be the best option to take. I'm guesing it would be the wider one. Of course there's always the option to remove some laminations and come up with 5 mm. What do you think.
Also: I have read a few articals that say some of the LRK builders are straying from the skipped tooth wind and going to winding alll 12 legs. Do you have any fee back on that.

Thanks.

Hi John,

I am suggesting that you go with stator stacks that exactly match the height of the magnets you are going to use (5, 10, 15, or whatever). Since the stators are uncoated, you can easily seperate them.

The winding of all 12 teeth is called distributed LRK. It allows a large number of winds to be spread out over two teeth thus reducing the heit of the end turns. Since you are making your own bells and flux rings, you can design in plenty of room and avoid using distributed windings...if you want.
