I couldn't find a forum for discussing the $4 stock motor, so I hope this is OK.

I used one of the Hall sensors from the $4 motor to build a flux meter. I thought I might post a DIY build article on RCGroups.com.

I was wondering if anyone knows the full part number and mfg, or has a link to a data sheet for the Hall sensor? It appears to be marked "55F" but one or both of the 5's could be an S.

Thanks for any and all help.

BTW, the flux meter works great for checking magnet polarity, wind polarity and location, relative magnet strength, finding the poles on the ring magnet, checking an unknown stator for Wye or Delta. :D

I'll see what I can dig up on that hall sensor. Don't leave us hanging though:). If you post it on RCgroups, post it here as well.

I'll make a separate folder for those types of posts.

Just for your info, there is already a thread on this subject running under the GBv section!

Thanks ScubaSteve. It will be really nice to get the info if you can. I have spent a good deal of time on the web looking w/ no luck. But I know you are very busy! Thanks again. OK if I post the build pictures on rcgroups and post a link to it here? I think you would get more exposure and more orders that way...

Thanks also Pipistrelli. Is "this subject" the $4 motor, or the hall device? I found a thread on the $4 motor under GBv kit, but nothing on the hall device. The info you posted on the motor was very helpful. Thanks!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I did mean the '$4 motor' as the subject because I picked that up from your 1st sentence.

The flux meter sounds interesting, I build a lot of GB motors and this could be very useful, I would certainly be interested in building one. Is it difficult, or expensive?

I have loads of backplates (left over from motor building) still fitted with the hall sensors if anyone would like one for the cost of postage?

Here (http://my.execpc.com/~rhoadley/magmeter.htm) is one I found. It requires a linear hall effect sensor as opposed to a digital hall effect switch.

Thanks for the update, Pipistrelli. To build the flux meter, all you need is one of the Hall sensors, a battery, a meter and some wire. The battery hooks up to two of the sensor pins, and the meter hooks up to the other two.

Here is a link to the build info:

Inexpensive magnetic flux (gauss) meter

And thanks, Jay C, for the link. As it happens I had found that one already, and I included it and some others at the end of the build post. But if you find more, please post those as well! :D

Hi ScubaSteve, any luck finding a data sheet? I'm pushing the flux meter project (should pass 1000 views this weekend) and hope you get some business as a result. I'd love to post a datasheet if its available, but I know you are really, really busy!
Merry Christmas!

Haven't gotten any details yet, but still working on it!
